Belief in 'Doomsday' is higher than ever

A new poll showed that 15% of people believe that the world will end in their lifetime.

Similarly 10% believe that not only would such a thing happen but will happen December 21 this year, the date on which the famous Maya calendar stops. There is no doubt that numerous discussions in the media as well as documentary films have influenced mostly in people's perception that it is likely that such an event could happen really.

"If they think that will come the end of the world from the hands of God, natural disaster or a political event, for whatever reason, one in seven people think that the end of the world is coming," said Keren Gottfried study manager. "Perhaps this is due to the interpretation of the media for Maya prophecy that the end of the world will happen in 2012."

Nearly 15% of people think that the world will be coming to an end during their lifetime and 10% felt that the end of the world will be this year the Maya calendar.
